Regulatory & Environmental

Turn complex obligations into an organized plan.

CARB and EPA compliance support, environmental reporting and vessel-repowering grant assistance.

TPWC helps operators organize regulatory and environmental obligations around their vessels, operating regions and investment plans. Support includes key compliance areas involving the U.S. Coast Guard, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). For vessel repowering, we assist with identifying relevant state and federal grant opportunities, assessing project fit and coordinating application materials. The aim is to connect compliance planning with a practical path to fleet investment.

Engagement deliverables

A compliance roadmap, documentation review or grant application support for a vessel-repowering project.

Connect obligations with fleet decisions

Operators benefit from a clear view of what applies to each vessel, who owns the work and which decisions need to be made before an inspection, reporting date or investment. TPWC helps organize that view alongside supporting documentation and actions.

Repowering and grant preparation

Grant assistance can include identifying opportunities, reviewing eligibility and project fit, organizing vessel and project information, and coordinating application materials. Funding strategy is considered alongside technical planning, operating needs and environmental objectives.

Vessel repowering / DERA National

Funding starts
with project readiness.

The 2026 DERA National competition accepts applications through January 22, 2027, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern. The deadline for questions is November 24, 2026. Eligible projects include marine engines, subject to the funding notice’s requirements.

TPWC helps operators assess project fit, organize engine and operating information, coordinate estimates and prepare application materials. Private operators generally need an eligible public or nonprofit applicant partner for this National competition.

Begin preparation before the conference season: identify the applicant route, assess the project, establish the budget and coordinate supporting information.

State-administered opportunities have separate schedules. Dates and eligibility reviewed October 13, 2026. EPA National DERA guidance
